CSE Graduates Celebrate Progress and Service with the Class of 2024
Georgia Tech closed the Fall 2024 semester with Commencement ceremonies held Dec. 12-14. Graduates from the School of Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) were among the 6,405 new alumni receiving their degrees over the weekend.
“For all this potential to make a difference, there is something I want all of you to remember, the two words on our seal: progress and service,” said Georgia Tech President Ángel Cabrera in his commencement address to Ph.D. graduates.
“These two words define us as a community and signify our belief in the power of innovation and ingenuity to serve a greater purpose, to improve the human condition.”
The School of CSE administers the Ph.D. and M.S. CSE programs, which conferred degrees to graduates representing the colleges of Computing, Science, and Engineering.
In addition to CSE degrees, the School offers doctoral degrees in computer science and machine learning. Ph.D. graduates who received their diplomas on Dec. 12 at McCamish Pavilion were:
- Jiaming Cui (Ph.D. CS-CSE 2024), advised by School of CSE Associate Professor B. Aditya Prakash
- Jinwoo Go (Ph.D. CSE-CSE), advised by School of CSE Assistant Professor Peng Chen
- Koby Hayashi (Ph.D. CSE-CSE 2024), co-advised by School of CSE Regents’ Professor and Chair Haesun Park and School of CSE Professor Rich Vuduc
- Hua Huang (Ph.D. CSE-CSE 2024), advised by School of CSE Professor Edmond Chow
- Xin Jing (Ph.D. CSE-CEE 2024), advised by School of Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor Phanish Suryanarayana

- Danrong Zhang (Ph.D. CSE-CEE 2024), advised by School of CEE Professor J. David Frost
Fall 2024 marked the first time Georgia Tech held two ceremonies for M.S. graduates. After a brief, Institute-wide ceremony, each college held ceremonies where graduates individually walked across a stage and received their diplomas.
Among the 4,000 total master’s graduates, 72 accepted M.S. CSE degrees at the College of Computing’s ceremony on Dec. 14 at Bobby Dodd Stadium. They were:
