GT Computing Career Fair

Distinct Set of Companies Scheduled for Computing's Career Fair on Wednesday

A new venue and a professional development initiative are highlights of this week’s College of Computing Fall 2024 Career Fair.

Building on last year's record-setting success, the College will welcome thousands of Georgia Tech students to its career fair on Wednesday at the Campus Recreation Center (CRC).

Students will meet with representatives from nearly 100 participating companies in industries ranging from artificial intelligence and software development to cybersecurity and data analytics to learn about upcoming internships and full-time job opportunities.

Companies registered for the College of Computing Fall 2024 Career Fair include:

  • AT&T
  • GEICO
  • Gulfstream Aerospace
  • The Home Depot
  • Humana
  • Raymond James

Organizers expect more than 3,500 students to attend Computing’s career fair on Wednesday at the CRC. Last year, the College set a one-day attendance record with more than 3,900 students participating in Computing’s Fall 2023 Career Fair, which was held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Computing’s career fair starts at 10 a.m. at the CRC’s 4th Floor Courts and Auxiliary Gym. It ends at 3:30 p.m., with admission closing at 3 p.m.

The CRC is hosting Georgia Tech’s All-Majors Career Fair, which will be held today and Tuesday in the same location. Despite the shared space, only a few companies will participate in the two-day campus career fair and Computing’s one-day event.

“The good news is that there’s not much overlap,” said Paul Fowler, College of Computing career services director. “At last count, only six or seven companies were expected to participate in both career fairs.

“This means we have nearly 100 companies fully committed to and sold on the value of meeting our computer science and computational media students face-to-face.”

Along with a new venue, the College of Computing is rolling out a new professional development initiative for this year’s Fall Career Fair. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the highest return on investment possible for companies participating in College career fairs.

This week, the inaugural cohort of students completing prescribed training courses and requirements will have early VIP access to the College of Computing’s 2024 Fall Career Fair.

The cohort can enter the career fair at 9 a.m., and those arriving later than 9 a.m. can skip the line to enter the event.

Fowler developed the professional development initiative and implemented it this semester. Along with other relevant skills, the initiative teaches students how to:

  • Create strong resumes and elevator pitches
  • Effectively research companies
  • Dress for success
  • Follow up with prospective employers

“We want students to prepare appropriately for the career fair to make it efficient and impactful for them,” said Fowler.

“We also want them to prepare appropriately to demonstrate to recruiters that College of Computing students have invested the time and energy to engage on a meaningful level about their companies.”

All Georgia Tech students with a Buzzcard and alumni graduating within the past two years are welcome to attend Computing’s career fair. Pre-registration is not required. A complete list of participating companies is available.
