Computing Celebrates 2025 Faculty Promotion and Tenure Cases
More than a dozen College of Computing faculty members received good news this week when the Institute released its annual list of promotions and tenure.
The list included promotion or tenure announcements for faculty members representing the schools of Computational Science and Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity and Privacy, and Interactive Computing.
Dean of Computing Vivek Sarkar emailed the College community with the good news. "The hard-earned milestones of promotion and tenure affirm a deep dedication to, and excellence in, research, teaching, and service,” he said.
"We are truly thrilled to celebrate this moment with you all as we recognize your contributions to our students and all aspects of our College and Institute. Congratulations to all."
The College submitted 16 promotion and tenure cases this year. All were approved. The successful cases included three faculty members who were promoted to full professor. They are:
- Munmun De Choudhury (Interactive Computing)
- James Hays (Interactive Computing)
- Aditya Prakash (Computational Science & Engineering)
The list also included faculty tenure announcements for three associate professors. They are:
- Rosa Arriaga (Interactive Computing)
- Daniel Genkin (Cybersecurity & Privacy)
- Humphrey Shi (Interactive Computing)
Ten College faculty members earned tenure and promotions to associate professor this year, including:
- Alexandros Daglis (Computer Science)
- Ashutosh Dhekne (Computer Science)
- Judy Hoffman (Interactive Computing)
- Paul Pearce (Cybersecurity & Privacy)
- Jessica Roberts (Interactive Computing)
- Alexey Tumanov (Computer Science)
- Chao Zhang (Computational Science & Engineering)
- Qirun Zhang (Computer Science)
- Xiuwei Zhang (Computational Science & Engineering)
- Bo Zhu (Interactive Computing)
In his email to the College community, Sarkar thanked those who "officially and unofficially" helped build this year's faculty promotion/tenure cases.
"Much of the support is invisible because the names and roles of committee members and letter-writers are confidential. So, many thanks to all those who had a part to play in the great successes we celebrate today," said Sarkar.
"And, a special thanks to our Associate Dean for Faculty Development, Beki Grinter, for her dedicated shepherding of the end-to-end processes for this year's sixteen promotion/tenure cases."
